Here's an ideal convention set or items that I would pick up in a heartbeat:
Original 13 G.I. JOE team o-ring style.
Original o-ring style Starduster with Jetpack.
Classic Cobra 3-Pack: CC, Officer and Soldier.
Rerelease the 1985 Snake Eyes, 1984 Storm Shadow, and Firefly on a classic style cards.
A case of original Crimson Guards.

What kills me is that Star Wars has a huge fan base compared to GI JOE, but their yearly "Celebration" exclusive is like one item. Not $300 plus figure sets, with $160 recolors of jets rotting on TRU shelves for $25.
I think if the fan club closed tomorrow, half of current GI JOE collectors would leave the hobby within a year. Modern collectors seem dependant on the fan club, partly because GI JOE at retail is come and go but also because Hasbro makes the same dozen or so characters at retail again and again. Consider than Cobra Commander has over 50 versions now, and half of those are from the "modern era".

Hasbro is revealling nothing new at the Convention. Not ready to reveal post-movie plans....meaning there are no plans. They expect the movie line will flop, and if it doesn't...they'll slap some repaint/kitbashed wave to fill in a gap. Or not. Maybe they have future plans (probably five point of articulation figures ). Really, that's lame. Not even a reveal of the comic con rip-off exclusive? Okay, so they have concept vault stuff again. Again, this is all might make someday prototypes. And it's mostly the same characters they've done a lot of. Destro does look good.
