I tried showing this to my friend, he is into architecture, but he is convinced he can debunk this guy. But I've found, and still find what he has shared, very interesting.

In the "there's absolutely nothing new they can do with a semi-dead franchise" department. -female protagonist -dark corridors -jump scares -derelict space something and the bonus -cast of mostly nobodies to really get you interested...

I never saw all of the first one. But I safely say that all or most of this sequel will be inside Joker's head.

The first Joker was extremely depressing the whole way through, and I will never watch it again. Still managed to be a good movie though. It described what is wrong with our society and where we are today "Clown World!" I don't need a sequel. I don't want a sequel. We already live in clown world. But like TMNT, the Batman franchise sells. Nothing will ever top the hype that surrounded the first Batman movie with Michael Keaton in it though. Everyone was so excited to see that. I think the theaters did that special late night opening. I saw a review where someone exposed Bruce Wayne to be one of the Rothschilds. In Batman Begins, his mansion is a Rothchilds in real life. The original TV series mentions Bruce Wayne's grandfather(or ancestor?) wasn't just a member of the Skull and Bones secret society, but began, founded and established it. He is basically just a cop that likes to beat people up. Joker sequel spoiler below. Lady Gaga is a man.

The one part of the first one I saw that I liked was Joker ducking the cops on the subway.
That's the thing. That movie's Joker was a response to a corrupt society. That's what Batman is supposed to be. The 1960's Batman and Robin were ridiculously establishment...duly deputized agents of the law and all. Worked for the whitewashed reality of late 1950's and early 1960's Batman. But by the mid 60's, that was part of the tv show's joke. Batman was a square.
Thus any modern relevant take on Batman has to have him being opposed by the system to some degree, or it feels off. The establishment hates vigilantes. They'd rather people stand by watching and filming people being assaulted than help.

I mean, Joker's most famous origin is him as a pasty who is made to wear the Red Hood get up to draw attention from the real criminals. So, him as a 'victim' does have standing in the comics.
I think the first Joker, the performance out paces the script, but it is good, I wouldn't say an outright masterpiece.
