I wonder how goddamn boring this Convention is, seeing as there isn't even a showcase of new product to look at. Dealers rooms and camaraderie can only go so far. I think one of my homies might be doing a talk on diorama photographs, but shit, even then panels aren't really that interesting, and with G.I. Joe it's not like there's going to be a hell of a lot of UNEARTHED BOMBSHELLS, since those are all saved for books weirdos have been writing for 15 years, or they've fallen into the hands of people who will proliferate the ever loving shit out it.

Book weirdos or "Why there is no comprehensive unproduced/preproduction GI JOE archive online"
Everybody wants to be a big fish a shrinking nerd pond.

I had my moment years ago, I was checking out sci-fi books in a Barnes & Noble I think. Some kid came up to me who looked like the spitting image of Erckle from Family Matters (and I'm not knocking his looks, just describing the situation). He saw I was checking out a Star Wars novel and proceeded to talk to me about Star Wars. I've got a pretty good amount of useless Star Wars knowledge, to the point that I would call myself an expert...at least back then before all the cartoons came out. Anyway, this kid was talking to me about stuff I never heard of. And I quickly lost interest in whatever I was looking at and really just wishing I could escape the conversation...and I know this kid was just was excited to talk to another fan, I've been there...but what I realized was that this was how I must make everyone that I have probably ever talked to about Star Wars, feel. I didn't make any weird vows that day to stop being a fan or collecting...but it changed me. I mean, I haven't even seen the new Solo movie, and I don't care.
It's the same thing with G.I. JOE. When you see adults acting like infants, it's embarrassing to be associated with the same hobby as them. I don't think I will ever get back into it.

I had an encounter with Joe fan back in 1994 or so that was kinda like that. He was the chubby geek type who wouldn't go away. Still, didn't make me change enough. LOL.

Who knows, maybe down the road I'll revisit, I've done that before...but I think I'm done collecting anything. I've been doing more personal growth stuff with my life lately. Feeling more aware that I've only got so many days on this earth to do what I really want to be doing with my time. I've wasted so much of it online shopping. "It's a trap!" Also, I really hate dusting. And anything you get is just another thing to dust. When I look at it like that I really don't want anything. I don't know, I've been so depressed lately, I've been thinking about travelling. I used to love to travel. At some point I really wanted my own home and stuff though. Now I feel like those things just keep you from travelling, if that's what you want to do. Honestly I've been dealing with so much emotional pain from this last relationship, and my dog dying, that I haven't given much thought to anything else. I need an out. I need a change.
Lately I've read a few books that had a profound impact on me; "The Four Agreements", "The Alchemist", and the "Kyballion". Also took up surfing recently, really just making the most out of my life the best I can, and not letting circumstance dictate my reality. I was struggling for a while to find something fun to do with my time, I mean I wake up super early for work, and there's just not a lot going on at 4 in the morning on my days off. Surfing actually works really well with my schedule, so I'm going to keep at it for now. Something fun to do that gets me outside and interact with nature.

LMAO @ Hardball and Spirit.
Some of the cosplay fans were kind of fun to look at. I liked the guys that dressed up in the comic versions of Cobra Commander and Destro in their disguises.

Most of the Joes look like they are wasted and/or on drugs

The Joe team just isn't what it used to be. No wonder they are retiring the conventions.

Most of these Joes are at least in their 50's, so they gotta take performance enhancing drugs.
