The growing tension between Serpentor and Golobulus is intriguing. It's against Serpentor's DNA to be subservient, but Golobulus isn't interested in tactical operations. As he points out he hasn't even engaged in physical violence since America was a wilderness. So he needs Serpy, as Pythona is an assassin/emissary and Nemesis Enforcer is just a mute brute, even as he notices Serpentor's increasing insubordination.
The script doesn't say if Golobulus takes Serpentor's body. How else would be reclone him? All the original DNA was lost.
Slaughter "This is for being such a DIP!" Yeah, who uses that term? Good thing to cut.

I think it makes more sense for Serpentor to be dead in season3 as if there's a real leadership vacuum (as opposed to DIC where Baroness is just played at being generally salty), someone would be motivated to get Cobra Commander back in charge.

That's probably what Buzz Dixon intended for the cancelled season 3. I recall he said as far as he was concerned Cobra-La was all dead. He never mentions Serpentor, so maybe Serpentor was, too. I suppose Hasbro might've had input one way or the other if it had happened. But then, a new CC figure was part of the 1987 line up, so...they'd want to promote that over the soon to be discontinued Cobra Emperor toy.

I think the blue skin for Cobra Commander can be connected to Zartans color changing abilities...sunlight would turn him blue...just a thought.
It was also unusual how Pythona spared the Dreadnoks, while the other Cobras were marched off as prisoners. Sure she wanted to use them to free Serpentor, but even Zandars response, "You know us?", leaves me to believe that Zartan and his brother and sisters color changing and camoflauge abilities could originate from Cobra La.
She also enchants them with the shiny pink jewel that she knew they would love. Not gold, or cash, but this object practically puts them into a hypnotic state.

Found a blog that mentioned Pythona was the concept art for Serpentor. Cobra almost had an Empress :-)

She and Serpentor definitely seemed like a couple in the movie.

WOW! I did not expect this news today...or ever. I wonder if they will take out the "Duke went into a coma" dialogue?
If you go see it, yell "YO! JOE!" at the beginning when Duke does.
