I just started rewatching this, it's been ages.
It's scary how relevant this story is right now.
How they take over and control the media.
Censor/silence scientists and doctors.
Control of natural resources...and humans.
Politicians being replaced with Visitors, and people of influence being brainwashed.
Humans reporting on their fellow man for material gain or status.
The lie's, deception and manipulation from the Visitors sounds all too familiar to what we are being told today.
*Side note, Relevance to G.I.JOE* I also realize why I really like the Crimson Guards, they closely resemble the Visitors. Ever since G.I.JOE aired on television, I associated Cobra with the Visitors, and was always convinced Cobra Commander was like one of them.
Anyway, I'm only on the second episode...just renting them from Netflix, but man...people really need to wake up, now!
V "To the heroism of the Resistance Fighters --past, present, and future-- this work is respectfully dedicated"

Man, Felix. I recently rewatched both it and the Final Battle as I got both on Blu Ray.
Diana is scary in terms of enjoying her 'work.' Also, the imagery of the freedom fighter with the gun at the prologue of the mini-series, duplicated at the end by Julie.
I always saw some trackings with Cobra and the Visitors.
The Mini-series makes strong political points, while the Final Battle is more straight action.
Mini-series... I'd give 3 1/2 stars. Final Battle.... 3 stars mainly for characters, but the followup could have been much better imo. Regular series... don't watch, don't care. Reboot... wrong people got ahold of it, its bad.

Thanks man, I'll out the discs in my Netflix queue based off your reviews It'll probably take me a week or two to get through the series, got to wait on the discs to arrive. However :-) in Episode 2, during the main battle, one of the Resistance fighters yells "Snakes on the roof!" YO! JOE! :-)

Jane Badler was hot.
Did not watch those as a kid. Still haven't really seen them. I remember them re-airing in the late 80's and thinking the reptile people in human disguise who swallow whole rodents was creepy. Seems funny now.
I did watch the 2000's series that ended on a cliffhanger before cancellation.

Got done with watching the Final Battle. I am V'd out now The Final Battle is kind of necessary for the follow up to the Mini-Series, it does answer some important questions...but I would say just stick with the Mini-Series and call it a day :-) Like Swindle said, "the follow up could have been much better!" Once again, I swill say it is striking how relevant the story is to the state of the world today. I know, it's not the same as alien lizards in disguise (I hope!), but the infringement upon our freedom, the censorship, the mandatory vaccines, the lockdowns, the masks, the riots, the misdirection of the truth, lies, the manipulation and deception are all very real threats we face. People need to stand up for what is right, now more than ever. YO! JOE!

Diana sent on a mission for supplies.. basically. Destroy a world, a people to feed a neverending war machine else where. Reminds me of Golobulus sending out Cobra Commander to take over the world on behalf of Cobra La.
Thing I like about Diana is she takes things so personally and has no respect for the other Visitors, but of course, she's sort sighted and not a military tactician, so she can't see counter moves the rebels make.

When fans balked at Cobra Commander being a snake, I was always like, Didn't you guys ever see "V" ?
It does make the cartoon and comic a little hard to exist in the same universe. But not for me. Cobra Commander just had to start out as a Used Car Salesman :-) Probably used the brainwave scanner for his wife.
As a kid I passed up getting Storm Shadow version one, for Scrap Iron because he looked enough like a Visitor to me.

A few things I would bring up... there were some concepts that was supposed to be in The Final Battle, but got cut...
Elizabeth, the cross breed, did not have superpowers, rather was super intelligent and was able to stop the countdown via solveing the decoder deal that everyone else had failed at.
The priest was supposed to be younger and not play into the standard tropes, I believe to give Diana someone better to play off of when he goes to her.
Ham was supposed to be in a wheelchair.
The ending was different, humanity wins, but realize, the Visitors have left with quite a bit of people for food/cannon fodder in their wars elsewhere. The central characters were supposed to take the mothership and follow off into space after them, creating a third mini-series centering on freeing them. But someone had the bright idea to leverage it as a tv series and that killed the IP.

Sounds like what happened with the original Battlestar Galactica, originally planned as a series of specials/mini-series/made for tv movies. The network decided to make it a series, and that strained the story lines and effect budgets.
