I like how the Imperial Officer is afraid of the Sith, Tarkin and the Death Star.
In Empire Stikes Back, I have often wondered if Admiral Ozzel was actually a Rebel spy. I used to think he was just extremely arrogant and had greed for power (more likely), but the Rebel spy theory explains why he tried to keep the Empire from searching Hoth, and why he ruined the attack by "surprising" the rebels by approaching too close to the system, giving them enough time to raise the planetary shields.
I haven't even had coffee yet today :-)

I thought that Vader hated Admiral Ozzel already for questioning his orders and used that as an excuse. Technically the Rebels knew the Empire was coming because of the probe droid. Vader surely suspected as a much.

Good point. Vader did hate Ozzel, but why resist the opportunity to search Hoth? Out of laziness? Lack of resources? Even Captain Piet says "It's the best lead we've had!"
But maybe Vader's right, and he's just as clumsy as he is foolish.
