It's been over a month since my birthday. My birthday gifts this year were getting served...papers...I got sued for not paying my medical bills from December 2010, my most recent kidney stone episode. They wanted interest. That part really pissed me off.
I sent the hospital $100...my father read that as long as you are paying and can prove it, the suit it nullified. I'm skeptical. I recently read about the return of debtors prisons. Ya!
I'm sure Johnny Turk will find that amusing since he lives in the land of milk, honey and socialized medicine.
In the past year they sent bill collectors after me. The fun one was the young sounding chick who called at work and asked for me by first name-. I talked to her awhile, gradually making stuff up. Then she asked for my credit card number. I said no. She said "I WILL DESTROY YOU" (Or maybe it was "I will destroy your credit"). I hung up. She tried a few more times after that, I told my boss and such that anyone I know trying to reach me would call my cell phone; anyone calling for me at work is a bill collector.
Then later in the month someone stole my credit card number. I didn't know until my card was rejected at a gas station. My on line account was blocked. I called the customer help, and they said "my account was suspended for suspicious activity". The woman on the phone read the charges someone made or tried to make, motels, truck stops...people's names, all well outside the state I live in*. Very odd. They canceled the charges, sent me a new card with new account number. The fraud investigation letter they sent said attempted fraud, like none of the charges went through, which seems odd since the customer service person said there a few.
*Constant paranoia.
