I always wanted to do a new dio story with my modern joes, I just need to find a program that can do the speech bubbles (for free)
I got all sorts of ideas, I always remember my old dio with mute Chuckles (my idea is he was actually the clone of Snake Eyes), Raptor large and in charge, etc etc. It just got convoluted, I had to scrap it.

I wanted to do Mercers escape from Cobra Island.
And how the Renegades got recruited.
Red Dog I think was getting cornered in a game and decided to avoid injury by fighting back. He hurt too many players during the incident and got banned and his career was over just before he achieved a big money deal. Sgt. Slaughter was watching the game and and actually intervenes.
Taurus was an amazing trapeze artist, knife thrower and Circus strong man. He would do just really crazy stuff and Slaughter saw him get in a fight with some locals for calling him a faggot. Slaughter helps him out.
Mercer, please note that anything in quotes is taken from various file card information. "Serpentor deploys an army of B.A.T.S." to finish off the Joe's, but they'll shoot at Cobra's and Joe's. Mercer escapes the battle on a FERRET ATV, and fights his way to the docks and "steals a MORAY". Mercer surrenders when he reaches the USS FLAGG. They took him to Interrogation, and he told them he wanted immunity in exchange for intel. They agreed, but gave him to Sgt. Slaughter.
"They all three are taken to the Pentagon and given official employment at the Pentagon as custodial workers." See, they end up as Janitors, isn't it great :-)
All of them are convinced to join up with Slaughter to do something for more than themselves. I like to think of it like the "Dirty Dozen". Which is also how I envision the original 13 recruitment stories to go, except instead of Slaughter it's Hawk and Stalker.

No one's done much with the Renegades in any media, official or otherwise, besides the 1987 cartoon movie. Most people like Mercer and reject the other two. But even Mercer qualifies as a neglected character.

But even Mercer qualifies as a neglected character. Its funny, I always thought Red Dog was the worst of the Renegades, not Mercer. Red Dog wanted to leave Falcon behind and the Sarge overruled him. |

Apparently Warfare II is still online at its annoying old Angelfire site. And Iconoclasts is up at a blog. I forgot how preachy that thing was. Cobra has eroded America's morals! |
