But not recent movies. I was over at my dad and his wife's house where they have pay movie channels. 1. 12 Years a Slave - well made and acted (except for Brad Pitt, LOL) if brutal to watch at moments. Uses the n-word a lot to drive home the racism, but in 1840-1850's that word wasn't the insult it became in the 20th century.
2. Elysium - heavy-handed sci-fi commentary on class systems, health care and immigration. Part of it seems silly because there's medical beds that can almost instantly fix anything wrong with the human body (regenerate body parts, even!), but only the super rich living on a space station above Earth have them. You'd think they'd have some on Earth and just charge the poor a lot to use one or even have a lottery. It's a pretty decent movie. Sharlto Copley's character, a mercenary with cyber enhancements, seems like a future Dreadnok to me.
3. Thor The Dark World - Meh. I'm meh on Thor. Not bad, but I was never Thor fan.
4. Pompeii - I got bored with that one. Once you see SPARTACUS tv series, any other portrayal of ancient Roman life seems tame.

TMNT (2014) - not that bad, really. I don't regret not seeing it at the movies, but on cable...entertaining enough, at least they ditched the idea of a white guy being Shredder that I heard they were going with.
Hercules (2014) - the one with Dwayne Johnson. An okay movie, nothing special. All the monster fights are imaginary, this Herc is just a man...well, he's THE ROCK...
Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit - Another okay movie, but it didn't do well enough to restart that franchise, so...no more Jack Ryan movies.
SPECTRE - disappointing, they are trying to hard with Bond movies...always with an emotionally invested Bond with the villain's plot almost being an afterthought (or so obvious from the beginning that it's boring), instead a cool story. Saying anymore would be spoilers.

I will only ever remember Hercules because I took a hot date with me to see it. Not trying to brag, it's not something I do all the time, but this girl was exceptionally cute. I don't remember the movie too well. She used the restroom while I got the drinks and popcorn. The guy behind the concession stand looked at me in awe, and was unusually nice to me. I could tell he was really trying to learn and observe how a guy like me at my age was able to pick up a hot 18 year old blonde girl, it was pretty funny. I liked the Scorpion King better than Hercules I need to watch TMNT.
