Blah.
Hey guys.
How is GIJoe going, the state of it? I did hear there was a huge controversy with the writer of the comic awhile back. Guess they're rebooting the movies, anything else? Guess I'll go look for a new avatar... hmmmm

G.I. JOE I thought was cancelled, the collectors club called it quits too, there's always been controversy with the comic, lol :-) but I'm glad to see you :-) I'm kind of getting motivated to make some customs. But I don't currently have any Joe's on display.
Man I lost ALL of my bookmarks recently. *Grrrrr!!!* I had tons of cool stuff I had saved for at least a decade! There was an update, and then poof, all gone. I was lucky though, backed up most of my stuff, thought I had those too, but guess not...or maybe I can still find them. Anyway, I can relate to the missing avatar.

Well, today I was looking at tv show aps I have on my ps4, this one free one, forget the name, they have GIJoe ARAH, Renegades and Sigma 6 to watch. I decided to check out Sigma 6. Watched the first two episodes. I do like seeing some of the newer toys in action, such as those new style BATS. The funniest thing happened in episode 2, Cobra Commander escapes from prison in epic fashion, then strangely the episode shifts to focusing on General Hawk's son and his robot dog. Just so funny and bizarre a choice. I'll stick with going through the show, seeing that I barely have any memory of it.

My pc's motherboard died 2 months ago. I got some data transferred but also lost book marks.
The second half of sigma 6 season 2 never aired in the USA, IIRC.
Scarlett's Strike FOrce was a recent new series that was cancelled after like 6 issues, I think. The writer was one of those PC nutters, decided Salvo looked too much like a alt-righter and made a new Samoan woman Salvo. Instead of a new character? Some fans boycotted the comic and stuff, instead of ignoring the crappy new comic. Then IDW fired him, and then IDW's editor left.
GI JOE is on hold until the next movie, some 2 years away. Unless Hasbro makes some SDCC thing this year or next (also for HasCon 2019).

I had a lot of fun with those toys.
My favorite toy from the line was my custom Snake Eyes from the Jungle Commando version (just looked like the 1982 style when I was done)...also had alternate head and gear for the 1985 look. It's still my favorite Snake Eyes figure. Although my custom 12 inch one is "more realistic", the durability of the Sigma6 figures made them more fun. Easier to pose goes a long way in my book...so does the strength of the figure if it falls. These things were built tough. I've had a 12" figure fall over, pretty much new, and get dinged up or have broken parts/accessories.

I never really keep up with modern GIJoe comics, but I did a look see and this seems to be the issues:
Apparently there was a cover of one comic issue with the Dreadknoks and Gung-Ho with homoerotic subtext, I guess, maybe, as a support for LBTQ Pride month or whatever.
Aubrey Sitterson claimed people who were not there or did not lose someone in New York City on 9/11, you shouldn't be apart of remembrance/reflection/grieving/honoring etc. that you're just ego stroking yourself. Neverminding the fact that not all the attacks even took place in New York City, if you want to play that game. But of course, what happened that day was an American tragedy. I felt sick to my stomach the day it happened.
Then you got the Salvo, who is a d-lister. I never thought the character was pushing any agenda, he had a t-shirt that stuck out and some neat weapons. Couldn't tell you a thing about him, appeared in some DIC eps, but characters were so generic in that toon. You know, thinking about it, I don't mind the female Dial-Tone because I believe somewhere, its said she's his sister, so it's expanding the mythos. I do like bloodlines in GIJoe, connections, like with Bombstrike and her brothers. Changing Salvo up for political reasons is lame.
So, I look at GI Joe as a struggling property. I do think you need a basis in respect for what has come before, I don't mind different takes. I actually like the "Doctor" from Rise of Cobra, for example. I do hope better days are coming for GIJoe.

I don't mind updated stories, but respect the source material. I remember reading an interview with Larry Hama about Resolute, and he said something along the lines of, "Updated stories are great, but you would think that that new creators would at least research the source material."
