I'm going to go watch this today with my mom. My mom has supported my love for Star Wars sit came out.
We've watched all the movies together.
I don't even care if Rise of Skywalker is good or bad...
I'm just happy my mom is still alive and we can watch it together.
Thanks for being my friends you guys, and hanging out with me for another trip around the sun.
Wishing you all the best.
Happy Holidays everyone :-)

That sounds awesome Bravo!
No major spoilers here...
Well, after seeing it, I can say I liked it.
I can say it was better than The Last Jedi.
It felt like they spent a lot of time course correcting from The Last Jedi...
I would have done some things differently...
But in the end, I liked it.

Wound up seeing it alone, because my dad had to get back home before snow storm hit. I goofed, should've done it earlier.
Uh, I didn't hate Rise of Skywalker, but it left me shrugging at times and I can't really say the sequels justified their existences.
Random comments:
SPOILERS
The Falcon popping around the galaxy. I dunno.
I'm not sure whether the scenes with Leia were well done or "obvious they rewrote this thing to incorporate unused Carrie Fisher footage from previous movies". I guess they did the best they could.
Palpatine is aliiiiive. They never tried to hide that in the trailers, though. He made Snoke from scraps he found in a cave.
Poe's past as a smuggler...who cares?
Zori won't take her helmet off Bliss...umm...okay?
C-3PO's memory wipe, but R2 had a back up, so...so?
Knights of Ren, as predicted are Praetorian Guard goons disposed of with no real explanation who they were.
General Hux...fails as a villain and as a treacherous rival to Kylo Ren.
Richard Grant's other First Order Officer...why couldn't they have gotten some Imperial Officer actor from the original trilogy?
Lando's bit were nice but brief, I guess.
Enough of the big ass alien that couldn't even fit through the door of whatever shady place he's seen in. They do this every movie now. It's not like they are even characters, but brief eye candy.
Planet killer weapons on Star Destroyers, you know I'd assumed the reason they hadn't been was due to power requirements and weapon housing that meant something the size of a Death Star was necessary.
And the Death Star wreckage...did JJ and Disney see a different explosion than I did at the end of Return of the Jedi?
Rey is the granddaughter. Okay. Most surprising thing about that is that Palpatine wasn't gay.
Some odd Sith assassin alien was sent to kill her and/or her parents....because...random new character briefly seen.
New Force powers, stuff teleporting! Force healing! Dyad? Whaaat?
SITH CULT PLANET. Rule of Two....and Two Hundred Thousand Cultists. (Actually, people have said they were the spirits of the Sith or not really there, and now I'm more confused...)
At least they didn't retcon Palpatine into being Darth Bane or thousands of years old.
Palpatine restored...but not all the way....just to his post office duel state. (Or was the implication that we never saw the real Palpatine in ANY movie before now? That the Sith base one was using his clones. Again, hearing people's theories makes this more confusing.)
It was given away in the trailer but Lando showing up with every ship in the galaxy was cool. It makes little sense he assembled a fleet so quickly, though.
Snap Wexley dies...nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
A New Useless Evil Royal Guard!
Every Jedi is within Rey...Luke could've use that help 30+ years ago...maybe then Palpatine would've stayed dead.
Montage of First Order defeated around familiar locales...why do that again? The Ewoks looked strange.
No squatters at Lars homestead? After 40 years?
Debate who the Christ metaphor is, Ben or Rey? Both? Neither?
Rose was hardly in the movie. Phasma stayed dead. As far as creating new baddies goes, the Sequels were a failure. Obviously Kylo is redeemed, but after him you got british Imperial officers, really just two and amazon chrome Stormtrooper. I guess what's his name...Benicio del Toro was a villain. I forgot he was in The Last Jedi.

The treasure hunt for the wave finder/knife/whatever is dumb, but it did lead to a bunch of mindless action. Entertaining if you don't think too hard. Its kind of a massup of Goonies/Bay movie. And the stuff about Rey's backstory with the Sith hunter isn't clearly explained.
Also, if Palp sent out a forboding message, either begin the movie with it or TLJ should have cliffhangered on it.
Palp wants Rey dead. No wait, he wants her to take over! No wait, he wants to use Ben/Rey to recharge.
I did like the scene with Ben and Han, basically Ben forgiving himself. It actually got to me a bit, but its surrounded by so much nonsense.
I'd say 2 and 1/2 stars out of 4. TLJ buried Luke as a character, this movie undoes Return of the Jedi, so pick your poison. I do think RJ wrote JJ into a corner, so he had to make tough choices in this movie and of course Carrie dying as well didn't help matters.

Why was anything written on the knife again? In ancient Sith regarding something that happened 30 years ago...pertaining to wreckage that shouldn't exist and could fall to pieces due to heavy corrosion and waves.
This is a whole thing, the Sith were TWO for millenia or something. Now there's a Sith Eternal cult on that Exegol planet (I had to read that on Wookiepedia), Sith assassins...that nebulous zone of servants of the Sith but not really Sith lords.
It's all such a mess.
Apparently Nein Nunb died, too.

Of course, the thing that's dumb on Palp's part, why even announce you're back? Just have your big fleet attack when the time is right... you know, surprise attack.
Overall, here's my problems with Disney-Wars: 1. No good use of the OT characters for the most part (Luke is the worst offender) 2. A rehash of Rebels vs Empire 3. The plot over 3 films does not flow if you think about it 4. No good romance (even killed off Han/Leia just because) 5. Palp did not need to be brought back 6. The Last Jedi itself is pointless given what goes on in Rise

Can't argue with any of that.
"Insider" rumors about on how Disney had the final cut and made changes without JJ Abrams' input. Not surprising as ending changes had been rumoured for months and given the troubled productions of Rogue One and Solo. JJ's original plan was to split it into two movies, then he wanted a 3 hour cut, then he had to shave 15 minutes off the not-final cut.
Jannah was supposed to be Lando's daughter, abducted as a child because the First Order wanted to punish Resistance leaders.
Force ghosts were supposed to aid Rey at the end. (I'm assuming this wasn't filmed) But they were nixed due something about China (this seems odd, because The Last Jedi bombed in China, so why cater to them in any way?)
We may never know the whole truth.

Hmm. Its interesting because GL was against studios telling him what to do. He sales to Disney thinking they'd use his story treatments, Star Wars would be in good hands. He's pushed aside a minute into the deal and I guess what he was against ended up happening, studio interference. Simple story beats: * Luke trains Rey - This is what audiences wanted, you can make Luke grumpy and cynical if need be, but no way should he have turned his back on friends, family and beliefs
* Rey needed to be a Skywalker - You can have her be Luke's daughter or even Kylo's sister. Whatever. But the idea is these movies needed to pay tribute to the past while ushering in the future. Han probably should have revealed who she was in The Force Awakens as well to really give her motivation to find Luke.
* Rey/Finn romance - They had decent chemistry in The Force Awakens and is a much better option than whatever the hell Rey/Kylo in Rise was. Finn can still turn out to be in tune with the force.
* Let Poe be a hero in The Last Jedi - The pink haired lady and Rose both needed to be cut. This seems to be a lesson Hollywood keeps having to learn over and over again. This social justice stuff is not something people really want in their entertainment.

Mara Jade should have left Luke behind and abandon Rey for her protection, but had a few good memories of her.
Rey is romantically involved with Poe and Finn....and Ben. Today's modern woman.

The classic try to milk more money out of the diehards deal. Problem is, this isn't a Deadpool deal with a funny riff it can pull.
Disney really has sucked the soul out of Star Wars.

Rey should have been Luke's daughter. They even hinted at it when Kylo Ren said her parents where "smugglers". Mara Jade was a Smuggler.
I mean Rey was drawn to Luke, and Luke's lightsaber....just saying.
All in all I like all the Star Wars movies
...but nothing is better to me than the Original Trilogy, plus I do really love Rogue One.
