The Prequels, to me...it's just Expanded Universe.
I was reminiscing for a bit today on when I went to see the original Special Edition in the theaters and what to expect. Things I was expecting were maybe Thrawn at the table of The Death Star. Maybe extended battle scenes that would blend in beautifully with the original footage, like oh maybe B-wings in ROTJ. I also must voice my huge irritation with the Imperial Shuttle. I wish Vader flew his TIE-Fighter more. That should be the Emperors Shuttle, and the rebels should sneak down in a TIE Bomber :-)
OK, I've said my piece.
*Edit and Admiral Ackbar should get the role of the Hoth Commander too.

I was expecting the scense at Toshi's Station to be put back in. Ever since I was a kid, the pictures of Luke and Biggs talking on the roof, and the blue landspeeder with 5 engines has mocked me. The only insight to this scene is in the novelization.

For the restored Jabba scene, which will NEVER look right, why didn't they add Jabba henchmen from ROTJ? Instead they had Boba Fett wink at the camera. Never mind this makes Fett look less like a great hunter and more like a guy who hangs around a big slug while he tries to collect debts.
Thrawn at the Death Star? There's this "the Empire is anti-alien" thing that was not stated in the movies, but later assumed...so Thrawn himself is an oddity.
Strike team should've been a cargo shuttle. Vader and The Emperor's shuttles seemed more like space limos.
Though I never cared for the Imperial troop shuttle they added to the New Hope special edition. It didn't make sense. They have dewbacks...did they carry the dewback in the shuttle...did the shuttle respond to the patrol's message or what?
I disagree about Ackbar on Hoth simply because Ackbar was a fleet commander. Making Madine and Riekeen the same guy, maybe, sure.
The prequels needed to be four movies, because The Phantom Menace was prologue and AOTC was the first part of what should've been an actual trilogy. AOTC seemed largely set-up and Revenge of the Sith was all conclusions. What should be middle, The Clone Wars , becomes a background story that has to be inconsistently told in other media. The original trilogy fares better. STAR WARS is stand-alone and set-up. While The Phantom Menace is lead-in and that doesn't entirely work as a stand alone movie. Empire Strikes Back builds on what came before it. Attack of the Clones fails on that. (Why did Nute GUnray wait ten years to have Padme killed? Why wasn't Anakin allowed to visit his mother in that entire time?)
