Got Hawk, Clutch and Grandslam in AFA cases. Hawk Grade 90, Clutch Grade 90, Grandlsam 85...interesting to note, they came from a batch of 196 figures, 64 each of Grandslam, Hawk and Clutch, not to be sold but as promotional giveaways? Mailaways? How on earth did anyone get these in the first place? Did you have to work at Hasbro? Grandslam and Hawk are two figures I never had before. It was a pain literally "breaking" them out of the cases, but the process went well. I used a heat gun, hammer and flat-head screwdriver, wore goggles. Hammer and screwdriver was the "key" to success.  Also arrived today were loose versions of 1983 Rock N' Roll, Grunt, Zap, Flash...no gear, but I already have it anyway. Zaps got a loose knee and some minor paint rubs, I think I can fix him up at some point pretty easily. The rest of the lot is pretty solid. Rock N' Roll could use a little more gold on his ammo, but I think it looks pretty good.  My goal has been to use my first tackle box for the Original 13.   Breaker, Short Fuse and an actual 1983 Scarlett are on the way. |

It's been a long time coming.
It was kind of liberating breaking them out of their plastic prisons, lol :-)

Did you win the lotto? Buying the original 13 at current market prices!
I'm reluctant to open Star Wars stuff I got two years ago. I do hate Star wars collecting for that reason.
Garage sale finds for this weekend aren't gonna happen. It rained heavily friday and is raining now. Meh.

Amazon order arrived a day early and it was good I was home, the stealthy mo'fo left the box on my porch on a very overcast day, and it did sprinkle. But I found it before then. Fine shipping. Both have frayed corners, glad I'm not a MIB collector. Both were too tall for the box they were in, too, some bending to the top thingie.   As the only other Origins item I have is a battle cat I haven't opened (i post a lot about a series I don't have), vintage stuff will mix. That's part of the appeal to me.   (Photo was too blurry so made it weird) So...I don't know how deep I'll get into Origins. It's hard to judge a line from a character I disliked (and never owned as a kid). The hip articulation annoys me as I knew it would, but do MOTU do a lot of sitting? I'm not used to buying new figures this scale, either. I'm bored with Star Wars and mostly bored with GI JOE. I dunno. |

Yeah, you got a good deal on them as long as you are opening. One thing that annoys me about that fig is he can't quite hold his sword properly if I recall. I've had him riding my Sky Sled so haven't messed with him much lately. There's more interesting figures with play features.

 Quick thoughts: * The web gear hides the Cobra Symbol on the Missile Command Center Cobra Troop, but a nice edition to Cobra forces * There's a playdough quality to the colors of wave 3 (Duke/CC/LJ), so Stalker's figure is a good rebound, only downside is his weapon feels sort of gummy * Major Bludd's dog collars as a molded piece seems cheap and unappealing, compared to say the efforts in Sigma 6 figures. I think Bludd is one of the lesser efforts, looks like a blob of dark colors next to other Cobra figures. * The snapping click for the projectiles for Hordak is a nice moment, but he's so much the same as the standard figure. hmmm... but he does have the extra head. So, its a mixed bag. |
