I guess it deserves its own thread. So the trailer is out.
*Shrugs* I'm on a new level...yeah...no... "For 600 years our ninjas have brought peace...." Aren't ninjas assassins? What are they, the League of Shadows?

So... Fast and Furious type road action... generic hip trailer music... Snake Eyes history looks totally altered. The sword action in the trailer... I thought the saving grace of this movie is it would be more gritty, but it seems just to be emulating standard action movies of the day.

More Fan Fiction :-)
I really wish they had used Robert Kamen, AKA Johnny Lawrence from the Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, to play Snake Eyes.

From that article, the best thing about Snake Eyes is what Chuck Dixon said,

This is totally "Woke" Snake-Eyes I'm willing to let it go and give Snake Eyes back to Larry Hama, it's his baby. However it is still a very "George Lucas Special Edition" thing to do. What really made Snake Eyes cool was his anonymity, so any kid could "project" themselves onto him. But whatever.

Remember, back in '09 when he bashed Resolute (Which wasn't very good, but was popular with the fanbase) and praised Rise Of COBRA (Which wasn't very good, but was unpopular with the fanbase, and gave Larry Hama a cameo appearance)? I think you nailed it with the "being paid" part I thought Black Rip Cord was great, it was something that made Rip Cord a little more interesting, it ruffled feathers, but at the same time it didn't actually impact the character one iota, and I'd rather see Rip Cord get bastardized in a bad movie than Stalker, or Doc, or Airborne, etc. However, while I know this shitty movie isn't following traditional ARAH storyline, when looking at the Marvel Comic, being a white dude is actually a fairly big part of the Snake Eyes character. Mystery was a big part of the Snake Eyes character, but as more was revealed about Snake Eyes, tragedy became the biggest factor on his character. He lost damn near everything, and then goes to spend time with the ninjas, and hey, this white dude's a savant and usurped Storm Shadow as heir to the "family business", which besets EVEN more tragedy upon Snake Eyes. I don't really care too much in the scheme of things, I doubt I'm going to ever see this movie and still haven't even watched the trailer.

I had no idea Hama spoke up for Rise of Cobra. LOL
"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a shill" Personally thought the Rock sucked in the second movie and Bruce as "Joe" was mailing it in as well. (the only thing they had apparently was screen testers liked Rock and Channing Tatum on screen together, but Tanning wanted out).
This Henry fellow just looks goofy unmasked in this Snake Eyes outfit.

Hama had a cameo or cut cameo in RISE OF COBRA as a NATO general or something. TOTALLY PAID!

Rise of Cobra even made Snake Eyes a white guy (when we see him as a kid).
Hollywood has no balls to call a black guy "Stalker", so Ripcord it is.

Refusing to execute a prisoner, Storm Shadow's ninja clan protecting the peace of the world... getting Batman Begins vibes from this. Ehhh... it looks ok.

Cobra is coming? So they are following a remake of a Nicholas Cage movie with a remake of a Stallone movie?

Yeah, "Batman Begins", also "American Yakuza". So, you know that whole origins story that made Snake Eyes who he is? Yeah, we're going to ignore all of that. Snake Eyes goes from young war veteran to "Fish boy" The whole reason Snake Eyes wears a mask, to hide his scarred face, now it serves no purpose whatsoever. The rap song they are going with is really terrible, and probably says a lot about where this film is headed. Still, despite all of those things, I can honestly say I never thought they would actually make a movie about Snake Eyes, I mean the guy never says a word! Till now.

I've said this before, but that's a big problem with GI JOE as a franchise. Your most well known character and popular hero cannot speak, doesn't show his face and often works solo. Great for action scenes, hard for story telling, because that means everyone around him has to exposition.

That's why he worked so well on the comic page. Art work and Hama could bring him to life.
