I never saw a full episode of She-Ra. Ever. At best I could catch an end to an episode, running as fast as I could home from school. Always liked Frosta, she's a cold bitch *Edit* Frosta is not that great of a figure though. Only one I've actually been kind of disappointed with yet.
Dark Ninja Master has become my White Walker from Game of Thrones.
The Battleground Teela is how She-Ra should have looked from the beginning. She-Ra is how Princess Adora should have looked IMHO. But I'm bypassing the cartoon story arc of them having secret identities. That's just silly.
In my world, He-Mans real sister is Evil Lyn, Ruler of the Hordak Empire.
Those MOTU figures are bad ass. Not sure who is who, I see a green looking Teela, blueish Evilynn, and a white Sorceress. The guy in the back looks like Conan, and some blonde warrior woman?
I somehow ended up buying some of the KreO bagged figures and some Transformers sets. Pretty cool. Better than Megablocks, not quite as good as Lego.
Green Teela: The Goddess, AKA the Sorceress. She was in the first mini-comic that came with the figures and was sometimes Green. I remember being very confused why the original Teela was not green like the comic. The Sorceress and story of He-Man were different in the comic than the cartoon. Skeletor wanted to take the Goddess for his bride. I can't remember exactly how it all went down, but there was a weird story where something happened to the Goddess and she looked like the Sorceress after that, it was done to eliminate the confusion between the comic & cartoon. Anyway, the normal Teela is pretty expensive on ebay, but I found the Goddess for a decent price
Bluish Evil-Lyn: is Battle Ground Evil Lyn. She comes with two head sculpts.
Conan: is Vykor, "He-Man of the North!" AKA Conan.
Blonde Warrior Woman: Battle Ground Teela. She looks to me like how She-Ra should have looked from the beginning. But the figures face looks like Teela.
Yeah, I'm hooked now. Bummer some of the cool figures are so pricey. Shadow Weaver $200 is about the best you can find. I hope to get Kobra Khan and Webstor next....the Horde are the best IMHO. I still need to hunt down a Skeletor There's a lot of crap I could care less about, there's really only about 10 more figures I would like.
Hasbro should let Mattel do a line for classic G.I. JOE. They know what they're doing.
In the early comics it was revealed that Teela was a clone of the Goddess (the original Sorceress, bascially Teela wearing her cobra hoodie thing) created by Skeletor for some reason. I think now they changed it so that the Goddess was an earlier protector of Castle Grayskull.
I found Jabba's goon Vizam at retail and bought him. Also got a Clone Wars Nikto guard at a comic book show and a $1 troop builder set BAT Mk2 from 2002-2003. But his arm is very loose. I also bought some of the Hama written GI JOE comics that pick up where the Marvel series ended, 50 cents each.
This dealer had a $20 vintage Rebel Transport, but the gun station and the bottom hatch were missing. I don't have much space anymore.
I got the Kre-O BAT, Torch, Ripper and Lady Jaye. I also got the Custom Bumblebee & Megatron, and the combiner set of Predaking. The printing on the wave 2 Joes is equivalent to late 90's Lego, but the wave 3 and Transformers printing is top notch and on par with Lego. Initially, I wasn't interested because of the wonky arms they used. It looks goofy as hell for bare, or plain arms like Quick Kick... Looks ok for armor/and where the paint short sleeves on it. They cheaped out and you only get four figures in the combiner sets, but for $12 it works out cheaper than buying 4 bagged figures anyway. They're made in such a way you could add a fifth figure in. The biggest letdown is the use of the figures legs for the large robot's hands. I'm gonna just have them as minifigs, anyway.
I can't bite the bullet on Kreons. They look too crappy to me. I am bored enough to almost get into some blind bag series. The Simpsons Legos are coming up. But I doubt it. Buying Lego leads to more buying Lego.
I never noticed until recently that Toys R Us has some "True Heroes" military Mega Blocks sets with Cobra knock-off enemies "STEALTH" that even have a snake logo.
I found Retaliation figures at Five Below for well, $5. It was a wave that had Colton and Dark Ninja. I think someone beat me to Alley Viper and Lady Jaye. I almost got Colton, but his eye has a gray blob of paint. I got Cyber Ninja and Dark Ninja, just nostalgic for Cobra army building, I guess. The other figures left were decent versions of movie Snake Eyes and Roadblock, and lamer versions of Storm Shadow and Firefly (has two heads, but transparent forearms with no wrist joints).
The Tomohawk has got to be one of the top 5 best Joe vehicles ever made. The cartoon and the comic used that one a lot! It's also one of the more realistic vehicles. It's one of the few vehicles I would not mind having multiples of, either. The updates they did to it look great too. $18, nice score!
Found Jinx "Kim Arashikage", Blind Master and Alley Viper at 5 Below. I opened Jinx and Alley Viper. they are okay. I'm still not won over by modern stuff, even at $5 each. Jinx is just a repaint of her SDCC exclusive, explains why her outfit is so baggy compared to the film. Cheap, Hasbro, really cheap. The figure winds up feeling off, but she has nice accessories. Alley Viper in red is kinda cool. I still find the separate webgear/vest on some of these figures a bit hindering for poses, but this one isn't as bad as some.
I haven't decided to open Blind Master. I sort of want the character since this his only version. I dunno. It all goes back to the new stuff being too tall compared to most of my stuff.
I wound up finding and not getting Lady Jaye, they had at least 4 in stock now. I did get another Jinx to either sell or trade. Like I ever trade. I keep missing the Night Viper. But I hadn't been there in 2 weeks.
I was on the fence about getting the Tomahawk, since I have a (damaged) vintage one. For $16 i was gonna pick one up, but the shelfwarming fleet suddenly vanished at TRU. If nothing else, I was gonna see if I could retrofit the rotors onto the vintage one, since that is the major issue with mine. And use the stickers.
Since my display area is about half of what it was when I had a house, I tend to move stuff around about once a year. I put away a lot of superfluous Joes and whatnot. (Battle Corps, Tiger Force, post 88 dinguses, etc. Looks much less cluttered. So I cluttered it up by going through all my transformers. I boiled a few Heroes of Cybertron cause they got all wonky in the box. hadn't seen them in about 8 years. The sculpting detail holds up, but the paint apps, not so much. Some look great, (Megs, Galv, Op, Seekers, Soundwave) others, not so much (Jazz, Devastator, Omega) These are going back in the box. I got most of the G1 robot heroes when they came out. They are more cartoony, but the clean paint apps makes them nicer than sloppy Heroes of Cybertron. I Don't know why, but I love the Action Masters, too. I have Jazz, Grimlock, Inferno, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and three tossers I can't remember their names (Krunk?, Compuserve?, and a black Testarosa looking guy?)
