This attractive woman where I used to work compared me to Agent Smith. Not sure that was a compliment.
I debated seeing BRIGHTBURN, but accidentally read a spoiler. I think I'll skip. It's light Superman as a kid if he were evil, apparently

I still need to see Avengers Endgame, probably can't until it's on Netflix.
I watched Triple Frontier...its an army heist movie, some military and ex military guys are after a guy from the cartel that has a lot of money. It was okay.
I'm kind of excited to see Mandalorian, I guess it will be a tv series. You never know, sometimes something new can come along and make everything that came before it almost obsolete.
Stranger Things is next :-) Then Game of Thrones!!!

I was watching the 80's movie Streets of Fire on the free movie channel I get. MPLEX, they show box office flops and made for cable crap. It's strange.
Anyway, it was semi-watchable, but not good. Almost every lead character is an a-hole for some reason. But it has a cult following...maybe because there's a retro greaser/rockabilly aspect to it. I dunno.
And rewatched parts of FORCE TEN FROM NAVARONE, which is one of those WW2 mission behind enemy lines movies. Harrison Ford just after Star Wars, and Angus MacInnes (Dutch Vabder Gold Leader) is in it, too...and Apollo Creed and Robert Shaw from JAWS, Reichard "Jaws" Kiel and Barbara Bach from For Your Eyes Only. But it's not that great a movie.

X-MEN (well, not in the title) DARK PHOENIX: Not especially good. Not the horrendous garbage some people are acting like it is, though.
Jessica Chastain's character is part of what's wrong. They show her true nature and colors right off the bat. And it doesn't mesh with previous movies well.
It felt short, and there's not much middle to the film. It's Jean gets phoenix force, some LAST STAND retread about Xavier being a lying asshole, and then we have a scene that connects everyone together so they can go to the last battle. The last battle originally took place on the moon, and I guess they reshot it. For some reason.
No mid or post credits scenes.
4/10 I guess. It's the first movie in awhile where I didn't even feel I got my matinee ticket's worth.

I finally saw Game of Thrones the final season. It was okay. It could have been better. Glad it's over. :-)

I saw Snowpiercer last night on Netflix. Pretty violent, I've been staying away from stuff like this, but it was interesting. I watched it because I came across a youtube video claiming it to be an unofficial sequel to Willy Wonka. After watching, I totally agree with the claim. Going to stop before I accidentally reveal any spoilers.

My net was out for like a week. (long story)
Watched some DVD's I'd never bothered to watch.
Elizabetown: Orlando Bloom with a fake American accent meets Mary Jane/Kirsten Dunst. Cringey in parts, any part with Susan Sarandon. Mostly unfunny comedy and the romance aspect is just some white folk fantasy nonsense. I give it 4/10
Smokin' Aces: There was almost a good movie in this one, but a lot of characters, too many for the time, really, and some seem to be in a serious FBI movie and the others are in some Tarantino wannabe movie about fantastical assassins. It doesn't always mesh, and there's weird hyper active kid that I question the director/writer's mindset that he included him in the film. There's a trio of skin-head neo-nazi punks that reminded me of the Dreadnoks. One was Chris Pine, but I didn't even realize it until the movie ended. I'd give it 5/10

My net was out for like a week. (long story) Glad you are back :-) I also saw a movie with Orlando Bloom last night called "Unlocked." I won't spoil anything, but they basically made a realistic spy movie just about Scarlet :-) It was enjoyable.

Captain Marvel - Ehh, I'd give it 2 and 1/2 stars. It was watchable. But as far as Sci-Fi stories goes, its pretty bland. Not sure what the deal with the lead is. Nor am I sure what points it is trying to make about females. There are worse MCU movies, but I'd say this is in the bottom third. I'll do a ranking once I've done a rewatch of all these movies.
Captain America: The First Avenger - I always felt like this film was somewhat corny. I never bought that he was in real war. Also, he and Bucky are underplayed once they reunit. The film is basically Capt and Agent Carter flirting. LOL. It only gets really interesting in the epilogue when he's a man out of his own time. 3 stars on the basis of performances.
Captain America: The Winter Solider - The definitive Captain America movie. You pay off the Bucky plot thread, and the movie plays out more like a spy thriller. There's a clarity that drives Captain America; he urges people to stand up for liberty (not fear), but also reminds them that the price of freedom can be very high and its one he's willing to pay. DC definitely lost its way with Superman, so Capt fills the gap. The contrast is made by having Captain America interact with a Russian Spy, Nick who believes might makes right, Hydra which is all about hiding in the shadows to achieve its goals. Once Capt finds out Bucky is the Winter Solider, you have personal stacks as well. A great movie and one of the best of the MCU. 3 and 1/2 stars.
Captain America: Civil Wars - Avengers 2.5? Heh. This lowkey has one of the better MCU villains in Zemo, who causes a lot of havoc just by doing his homework on the Avengers. Also, watching these movies back to back to back, you really show Captain America's character. He sees trouble, he's going to step in, he's not going to wait on a suit to give him the ok. Does that make him right and Iron Man wrong? Well, Iron Man is operating out of a lot of guilt, so his motives are skewed. In the real world, I'd be with regulating super heroes, in the movies, I trust Capt's judgement. LOL. We also see the real ugly truth of the things Bucky was made to do. As well as Black Panther managing to have a story arch despite being a supporting character, leaving behind revenge. 3 and 1/2 stars.
In terms of quality, I'd put this as the best MCU trilogy and its right there with the Dark Knight trilogy in terms of telling a story between all three films (though, with Capt, it helps if you watch the Avenger films as well).

That's my problem with the X-Men. You are supposed to sympathize with them being feared outcasts in a majority non-mutant world. But how many of the mutants are walking WMD's? If just one normal person with guns can do so much damage...shit, you'd want mutants registered, too.
I probably overrated Captain Marvel. It was still more engaging than the first two Thor movies, though Nick Fury helps a lot.

The deal with Thor, the first movie didn't look great in terms of CGI and the climax of Dark World is laughable. They realized, Thor is better at comedy, so him interacting with the GotG or Hulk in his third movie, plays more to his strengths.
I currently have Dark World as my worst MCU movie.

I really liked Civil War and Winter Soldier.
I just finished rewatching the Daredevil series on Netflix. I think it's my favorite comic book movie/show of all time. Fun fact, the actress that plays Elektra "Elodie Yung" also played Jinx in G.I. JOE Retaliation.

I haven't seen season 3 of Daredevil, but I did enjoy the first two. All the characters are on point to their comic versions.

I haven't seen season 3 of Daredevil, but I did enjoy the first two. All the characters are on point to their comic versions. It takes place after the Defenders series. You can watch it if you want, I didn't the first time I watched, but this time I went and checked it out. I never watched Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, or Iron Fist...but they all connect and unite for an 8 episode Defenders series. I really liked Season 3. I'm glad it's cancelled so that it just ends being a good series rather than getting drawn out and ruined. Sure, Disney can make a new Daredevil, but this version is complete, and IMHO perfect. It's a fitting end for Daredevil since he always gets abandoned.
