Those apparently sold out in 3 minutes when put up for pre-order.
Welcome to big time collecting, Joe fans. There's people that will buy literally anything 6" scale, and on top of that, it's know Joe is a small market who'll be forced to overpay, and will likely gladly do it. GOTTA SUPPORT THE LINE, IF THE SCALPERS CAN'T SELL THERE STUFF, TARGET WON'T BUY FROM HASBRO.

A friend of mine who gets everything from Marvel Legends to Turtle stuff couldn't beat the preorderbot-vipers on Target when this stuff went live this morning. LOL
Nice to see you around, Johnny!

Yeah, the collector's club idiocy proved there's enough suckers to overpay for anything GI JOE if it's produced in limited quantities. And that was with only the hardcore modern GI JOE collectors buying. That's the thing, though, it's all demand. Mattel realized that with Masters of the Universe Classics. Less popular figures produced in sufficient quantities are near worthless, but if you limit the figures people actually want, the hype can keep the shit going well past what would a natural death at physical retail. And Hasbro has done that with Star Wars to some degree, they know actual stock at retail will kill whatever business they have left. When 6-inch star wars characters bomb, they bomb hard, and linger at $5 at close out retail.

It's funny how non-GI JOE collectors start giving a shit about GI JOE again. Then it peters out. WHEN HABSRO GONNA DO GI JOE AGAIN? Then it comes back and everyone acts like it's unstoppable because of first year hype.

A variant on an already hard to find set? Hasbro's a buncha jerks.
LOoking at ebay prices and wondering how this was an intelligent swap, Maybe the person had gotten one on clearance or something at some point?
I saw Target Roadblock today. First GI JOE 6 incher I've seen in person. I'm not impressed, it was just another 6 inch scale figure I've little interest in, especially at $20.
Of course there was nothing worth buying at TARGET at all. Not a single 3 3/4" Star Wars item in stock.

I personally witnessed something similar at a Wal-Mart a few years ago with a chubby guy trying to steal oil filters inside his coat or something and a young guy who wasn't an employee roughed him up, dude threw the filters out and took off.

So, it is possible Target has discontinued the Attack on Cobra Island Wave... http://instagram.com/p/CE8N4X7g9Mp I'm sure Hasbro didn't understand the demand and Target is happy, they sold their product regardless if it mostly went to eBayflippers. A friend of mine has the figures I'm missing from this line (RD,BH,Baroness), thankfully. I do expect perhaps a single carded Baroness with different colors down the line and there will be all sorts of Troopers. Hopefully these kind of store exclusives don't happen again, but you know they will. Bah.

Yeah, this sort of thing turns off new collectors. Leading with an exclusive, 4 more exclusives and a whole exclusive wave that's new, not just repaints. There's more exclusives than regular figures.
