Why did all those Joes decide to get KIA's? I hear those cars suck.

That was a very dark two parter. One thing I felt was odd is how shitty the Dreadknoks 'reward' was in that -verse. They were local police.

The Dreadnoks thrive on being bullies, and so being a COP is like their dream job. They remind me of the Droogs from A Clockwork Orange, which two of them do become cops later in the movie/book and are still, very much bullies.

Would anyone trust the Dreadnoks with any power, even if they were on your side? Zartan seemed more slighted, being D.C.'s police chief.
Poor Copperhead, he got transported to the Dic universe.

I think Alpine is stuck in a wheelchair after G.I.JOE the movie, from his fight with Nemesis Enforcer...
and that's why he's not part of Tiger Force with Bazooka.

I think his mold was in South America and for some reason he was passed over for Slaughter's Marauders (all those character's mold were in Brazil at the time, and the Marauders figures released in the USA were made there.) A mountain trooper for a armored vehicle team might have been odd...but they had a dog handler and a night spotter...how many night tank battles are there?
Thank goodness for Sunbow, because otherwise Alpine was underused and lacked personality.

Alpine and Bazooka was a great bromance, the cynic and the dumb guy.

Mortal Kombat Reiko is Zartan.

Mortal Kombat Reiko is Zartan. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a little bit to that. The Sub-Boss in MK3, Motaro, was based off of Baron Karza from Micronauts.

Ok, Raptor is giving me major Deep vibes from the Boys, which is a parody of Aquaman.
"See I asked around; you’re not number two around here. You’re just the fish bird guy. Everyone thinks you’re a joke. Me, most of all."
Interesting the commercial features a Cobra Officer at the beginning.

Officer was the Fred VII substitute, rather than showing a guy in civilian clothing. A CG would've been more appropriate.

Zartan, Zandar and Zarana all have Cobra La origins. Although, it is unknown to them until meeting Pythona.
Why I like this theory, is it would finally explain why their skin color changes blue in sunlight.
And why the Dreadnoks are spared by Cobra La in the movie.
Pythona also indicates that she knows everything about them, simply by calling Ripper by his title and name.
Which Zandar seemed truly surprised at in the movie...as if nobody should know who they are, and it's probably been that way their whole lives.
This lets them know they are truly connected to the Cobra La hive. While the other Cobra Troopers and Motor-Vipers were treated almost the same as the Joe prisoners, to the extent we see one guard hit a Cobra Trooper who appeared to be doing nothing...and showing them who is boss.
You could say that yes, Dr. Mindbender, Destro, Baroness, and the Twins were also spared...this perhaps shows just how low these folks have fallen. The great "Noble" Destro and Baroness relish in the destruction of humanity. You can see why Cobra La spared them, and for the snakes they really are.
Anyway, that's how I see it.

Destro and Baroness are pretty twisted, so its easy to see why. Dr. Mindbender really is big footed finding out the idea for Serpentor is implanted in him. Twins of course were supposed to not be up for what Cobra La wanted to do because they value the power their business ventures give them.
I do think the destruction of Cobra La is pretty tragic as it was a society. Just because their leader was evil does that give GIJoe the right to destroy them all? If this was Star Trek, Picard would try to find a way to neutralize them without stamping out their species completely.

Destro's clan worshiped a pit monster, so...his motivations were the family goal of destroying lawful civilization. Also, he cares so little for his kin that he'll let them become spore-infected mutants, too. But given their propensity for wearing animal masks, they might not mind. None of the Cobras had family apparently they care about enough to betray Cobra, not like Miss Teschmacher in SUPERMAN. Of course, it can be speculated the rank and file have no idea what's going on just that they have weird new allies.

That's like in Superman the Movie where Teschmacher saves Superman because her mom lives in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Also, remember Cobra forces are supposed to be true believers of 'the cause'.
