I am okay with Slaughter making it since the trio were seen together at the end.
The final blast scene does show the Renegades being blinded by the light...and from the size of the explosion would imply they never made it.
Gung Ho was supposed to be in his Dress Blues for Dukes Funeral.

Destro is on his own for two seasons, while C.O.I.L. slowly gets established.
