Well, I knew the show would improve just by getting away from that fucking farm.
The trailer looks good, but as always with this show, its the pacing that really matters.

At least the other cop is done. The acting between the cops was just bad. I'm glad Daryls brothers back :-)

Season 3 Episode 1 SPOILERS
U
Been
Warned
1. Picks up months later...probably a good move...though it makes them look a tad foolish for not noticing the prison sooner. Also, why not make the webisodes cover part of that time, instead of what they made...the secret story of Rick's shit in storage.
2. As hungry as they all are, tossing the dog food away was dumb. RICK, eat the fucking puppy chow!
3. I had a feeling when someone's name wasn't in the credits that their days were short.
4. Why is Andrea sick?
5. SWAT zombies...that and something else, Day of the Dead tribute episode?
6. Wife's preggers and you send the only doctor on a dangerous mission. The Ricktatership needs to be overthrown!
7. Rotting zombie teeth can bit through clothes. Riiiight.

The dog food might have had too old? Botchalism maybe? Andrea must have caught a cold during the winter. I like that the black girl makes her zombie slaves carry the gear I think Hershal is too old to be doing some of the action sequences, a wounded leg lets him still have a part in the show, offer his spiritual advice and still be the doc.

Maybe Rick spent the winter eating pet chow and just had enough. Gave Lori all the good food.
Chopping of Hershel's leg with the axe you used to kill walkers with. I hope they clean that axe.

Well, it was a better effort. The characters, by and large, are organized, which matters.
It reminds me of Dawn of the Dead, clearing out a prison instead of a mall.
That one blonde girl has a nice singing voice. Was that the only reason she was hired, to sing a camp fire song (and for the boy to crush on, I suppose)?
The black girl and her zombie slaves impresses me, sort of the kind of ingenuity you'd need to survive on your own would be high.

Good episode...Rick is ruthless when threatened now. I think he was bit harsh on the short black guy, but I'd probably have died 10 times over in Rick's shoes.
SOMEONE IS WATCHING FROM DA WOODS! Creepy. wait, what's creepier than hordes of cannibalistic corpses?

What a weird time to practice an autopsy on a zombie. I thought Rick was gonna tell Tiny that it was just a scratch, not to worry about it and lock the prisoners altogether. The Asian kid was stupid for leaving. He gets one job to do and screws up.

Welcome to the new reality.
Gone are the days of Dale, Shane and Herschel mucking up the group with misguided ethics or selfishness causing a power struggle against Rick's command.
Can you believe that during the worst of season two, Rick was actually partaking in the Herschel idiocy of rounding up zombies? Rick has his head screwed on right now and the show is working much better.
Characters feel more true to themselves. Beth telling Carl not to talk back to his mother, a little moment, but seems honest. Daryl acting as Rick's right hand. Carl's need to prove himself. Maggie the pessimist vs Beth the optimist. Even Herschel living felt more earned here because the show isn't moralizing anymore on a daydream farm.
The convits were just as much a threat as the zombies, if not more. Rick felt he could pacify the two left. Maybe, maybe not. We'll see how it works out. I wouldn't want either near my group, particularly the women in any case.

It's only a matter of time until something will happen to one cell block or the other, and they'll need to accept the prisoners in, or join them. I agree though, finally a much better story. I liked Carl talking back to his mom. She's stupid, and he's the only one in the group with brains....mmmmmmm brains Group needs medical supplies to save a members life, what do you do? A: Go grab a bite to eat. B. Go cut up a dead corpse for fun. C. Find the Infirmary.

I think that's a fuction of the episode maybe having too many moving parts. He never came out and said it, but I got the vibe Rick had written off Herschel and was moving on to two other issues: gaining control over the food supply in kitchen and dealing with the prisoners. I would have liked to see Carl's exploration, sounds interesting sub-plot they didn't have time for.

The mexican prisoner was still in the prison top dog mentality. He tried to push Rick, and Rick shoved back. All the rest of the prisoners woudl probalby accept Rick in a leadership role. Not that I wouldd still trust them, epsecially around women. Carl did what needed to be done, but going off alone without a buddy was foolish.
