I want to watch it, I definitely feel Marvel has DC beat on movies these days, but I enjoyed Batman vs. Superman and Wonder Woman...didn't care for the Superman stand alone movies. Regarding the Punisher series, it's pretty dang violent. I'd some up the whole series as just that. There's one good comedic scene between him and Micro where they are driving pretty far to go on a mission, Micro gets Punisher one of those R.E.M.'s (Ready to Eat Meals). Punisher starts chowing down while he's driving and then Micro pulls out a nice sub sandwich he made. Punisher was a little angry Micro didn't make him one too. Micro was like, "What? I thought you liked those things!" :-)

THE SHAPE OF WATER.
Cleaning lady falls in love with fish monster, and I don't mean some Disney movie love. I wasn't expecting full frontal nudity. It's got that Guillermo Del Toro style but with maybe less graphic violence. Doug Jones plays the fish man, like he did in Hellyboy movies.
It's a decent movie with kind of a predictable ending, maybe more a rental, but I wanted to see something new and different at the theater.

BLACK PANTHER - destined to be most overrated movie of the year. It's good in the way marvel films are, but diversity aside, it's nothing special. I keep hearing how great the villain is and I'm like *shrug*. Some of the effects are lacking a few times. 7/10 at most. The very last post credits scene is disappointing.
ANNIHILATION - Natalie Portman goes into some weird shimmer zone with 4 other women (including Jane the Virgin!) and there's mutated life and it's slooow to get started. It's a sci-fi horror thing, without that much horror really, a lot of allegories or something and a lot of character moments for Portman's character, who gets less and less sympathetic at the movie goes on. Her husband is Oscar Issac, so Padme and Poe!! It was an okay movie, but one I could've skipped. I guess. 5/10.

I still want to see it, and Thor Ragnarok.
I watched a documentary on Hitlers Inner Circle, it's a 10 episode series called "Circle of Evil". Well done. 9/10 because some of the actors are not resused as the character ages...seems like a bummer and makes following the series slightly difficult, but not too bad.
Interesting notes, I totally respect the movie Valkyrie with Tom Cruise so much more now. Also it's shocking how much of it compares to the things going on with our government and leaders today. Nothing is used as an example, it's just very easy to see so many similarities.
Spoiler Alert! In summary, all of the guys in the inner circle are really not qualified for the positions they hold, and they simply are always trying to get ahead of the other guy to be Hitlers successor. Most of them also have serious delusions about the world in general.
Fun moment, Hitlers last birthday. I guess his birthdays were always a big deal, and the inner circle all go to Berlin to be there. These guys take some pretty nutty extremes just to be there. They all think he will name each of them as the next Fuhrer. Hitlers hides in his bunker, the place is just in chambles, but they all celebrate like nothings wrong, I mean they are bombing Berlin during the party and the Russians are moving in close! Hitler ends up naming some Navy Officer who isn't even there, lol :-)

I picked up The Hobbit extended edition. Mainly because of just how many times I've watched The Lord of the Rings. I really enjoy the films. Tons of extra footage added in, I'd love to talk about, but don't want to spoil anything either. I'm not even sure of everything that was added, but the films do flow smoother. Surprised at how much violence and gore is actually in this "Childrens" tale. Still, I think they're really great. Bilbo is so fun for me. I often wonder what character I would be in a fantasy world, a mighty Dwarf, a powerful Wizard, a quick Elf.... and as soon as Bilbo sneezes and has a reaction to the horse hair from riding a pony for two minutes...I know instantly, without a doubt, that I would probably be a Hobbit, haha! :-)

I've never seen the extended Hobbits or the extended LOTR. I actually own the extended Fellowship of the Ring on dvd. Just never watched it.
Some people picked the Hobbit movies apart, and there was room for criticism. But I'm glad we got them with Ian McKellan as Gandalf and so forth.
I recently got a brief obsession with Lego and Playmobil stop motion recreations of LOTR battles. I should totally build a playmobil helm's deep...nah, their castle stuff is too pricey...then I was like LEGO, they actually made LOTR stuff a few years back. Still too expensive. I think the moment has passed.
This was made before there were Lord of the RIngs legos:

Atomic Blonde: Pretty good, if only for Charlize Theron kicking ass and not in that "doesn't get hurt" way, she takes some hits. Lots of 80's music, including new wave stuff even though it's set in 1989, by then most folks didn't give two shits about new wave.
War for the Plant of the Apes: I never saw the other two movies. This one was pretty good, though.
The Mummy (2017): Not completely terrible, but not that great, definately the kinda film you just wait for cable. Kinda short, too. Tom Cruise's character is supposed to be military, though a greedy twit, he doesn't act like it at all. He even drops his gun and panics in one scene, it's so stupid.
Whole lab of monster parts, but the best easter egg, I'll ruin...the Egyptian book from the Brendan Fraser movie makes a brief appearance. They wanted a shared universal monsters movie universe, but the movie didn't do that well, so now who knows?

Avengers: Infinity War - Good. Actually. Some characters aren't in it, but most are. Only one very end credits scene. A lot of things were spoiled by idiots and click bait "news" article headlines, though. People suck. Thanos is right!

I still need to see Thor Ragnarok and Black Panther, but I'm mostly caught up. Probably have to wait till it's on Netflix though.
I'm kind of bummed, the girl I was seeing liked X-men and Marvel. Yeah, it was serious.

The local post office clerk, she's in her 20's, is a Marvel fan, she saw Black Panter and Infinity war opening weekends. She did not like Deadpool, she thought it didn't respect the fans or something. I don't know. Funny these passionate younger fans...of things we've known for so long.

Deadpool 2: I thought the first one was better. This one is almost trying too hard, some jokes might go by too fast, or maybe it's that the plot centers on an annoying fat mutant kid. The end credits scenes redeem it, but still my gut calls it 6/10.

Sequels are almost always like that. At least the first one was as good as it was.

ANT-MAN, watched on basic cable...hadn't seen it. Pretty good.
ANT-MAN and the WASP, so decided to see the sequel, even though it's a month old...that's an eternity now, it'll probably be on video by October!
Anyway, it was pretty good in the usual Marvel way. Infinity War is still the best comic book movie of 2018...doubt Venom or Aquaman will change that.
Mid credits and post credit scenes. Post credits one is a joke, though, not important.

Sony with Venom and I heard rumors they want to do a Kraven the Hunter movie. I think its lame, and I hope these villain spin-offs fall. The were forced to work with Marvel with Spider-Man, but the two seem like divorced parents or something.
My issue with Infinity War is they cut Thantos' real motivation from the comics, trying to impress a chick, him being in love with Death.
