 Man-E-Faces and this MotU WWE ring. Fun in a silly sort of way. I always had mixed feelings about Man-E-Faces. The gimmick never seemed that great because the face(s) is only one small part of the figure. Probably the most lack luster figure in the line thus for my money. Only missing Scarglow from wave2. |

I still need Man-E-Faces. When you look at the face changing for disguise purposes...it's somewhat underwhelming  I kind of see his face changing more based on emotions. He turns to robot mode for pretty much anything Data in Star Trek would do (I'm pretty sure I kept mine in robot mode most of the time). He's himself, his human face (most of the time) in casual settings. He's a monster whenever enraged. Man-E-Faces is pretty weird, you can see tubes going into his flesh, matrix style on the vintage toy, and skin growing on weird places on his helmet  I can't emphasize enough how much more of a fan I am of his since the Many-Faced-God from Game of Thrones. Anyway, nice set up :-) I've been building up my Classics stuff. I recently added Classics Fisto and Stridor to the collection. Fisto can't hold his Final Fantasy style huge sword in his FIST hand, but he's a cool. Stridor is neat. He comes with two helmets, I like the one that looks Filmation. The other one will look good hanging on a wall in Grayskull. |

The original mini-comic had him a victim of Skeletor. With the Sorceress intervening. The robot form was made because of the push/pull. So, human good, monster evil, robot neutral. The cartoon basically ditched that and had him as a outcast who's social status caused him to behave poorly.
However, my issue overall is he's a jack of all trades. You have better monsters in the line. You have better robots in the line. You have better heroes in the line. Ok, he's an actor. Well, Orko already fills the role of entertainment for the royal court.
So, where does Man-E-Faces really stand out? He's still a weird guy in a weird outfit despite what face he is using. (a counter example is Zartan was billed as a master of disguise in GIJoe and you'd role play by trading out figures, he's breaking into Joe base pretending to be, say, Dusty. Use the Dusty figure.) Given the figure, the idea that comes from the mini-comic is the best, each face hits at alignment/personality/temperament, that gives best play value. But the actual design is clunky. I think it makes more sense that he's a victim of both magic and technological experimentation to explain the clunky outfit.
As for the actual figure, the head can actually turn allowing him to look side to side, but the downside is a bit the breaking of the blue color caused by that.
Of course, it occurs to me, he probably should have been more of a faction unto himself where he's playing all sides, say a Sideways from Transformers who could change his alignment. I guess I've never been one of the tragedy. You don't want to play as figures as a kid who you feel don't have agency.

Man-E-Faces has that left over Jack Kirby influence to him (Mattel had tossed around the idea of a DC New Gods toy line) that I find interesting. He is bizarre, but Enternia is bizarre. The 200X cartoon series did sort of make it so the faces of "Manny" changed upon his mood/need. But we never got his origins on that show.
Gorgeous Ladies of Enternia! Teela is better at hand to hand, and she's younger.

  Last collecting of 2020? Hmm... the amiibo was given to me by my sister. The alt CC came from Hasbro. Nintendo Club freebie I go was that Mario ornament with my coins I had collected. Some random Uncanny X-Men issues. |

 One of my collecting goals has been to get back to issue 200 of Uncanny X-Men. I know one outstanding issue in particular is slightly pricey. Overall, I am down to 8 issues missing (200, 201, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212, 221). |

I got Ultimates Faker for myself for Christmas.
Thinking about how Faker was my first MOTU figure, became a must have.
Also got my shipping notice for Snake Mountain!
And picked up a few Joe's/Cobra's; Big Boa, Raptor, Techno-Viper, Hawk 1991, Battle Corps Cross Country, and the Crimson Twin Commanders :-)
Most of the stuff I don't have are just odd balls. I don't think I'm going to collect the sub-teams. It is tempting to go down that road.
If I did, I would give each of them their own tackle box :-)

Techno-Viper is one of my favs. The changing gear to hose and backpack gimmick and purple give him nice playability. Also, very much sci-fi look without the low effort 90s GIJoe had.

I thought he always looked cool. He's hand to hand fighting Falcon on the Battle Gear card art. Anyone that goes toe to toe with Falcon, earns my respect.  I think Tunnel Rat isn't shooting straight because Crystal Ball is confusing his mind. Psyche Out is trying to help, while Order is going nuts, and Raptor is....flapping his wings. |

Cobra's hypnotist vs GIJoe's shrink (who aalso uses tech to alter Cobra troops minds on the battle field via his gear)

If you stick to year released, it's Sgt. Slaughter vs Serpentor. It would be the Crimson Twins vs Flint/Lady Jaye. You can make a case that Destro is Cobra Commander's man on the field, so he'd be a rival to Duke (But I never felt like Duke vs Destro was much of a thing in Joe media).
Dr. Mindbender has a pro wrestling look and had runins with Sarge in the cartoon. Losing Rocky, Big Boa becomes Cobra's answer to Slaughter.

Devil's Due tried to make Duke vs. Major Bludd a thing, funny same voice actors on Sunbow. Yeah, Duke vs Destro wasn't a thing anywhere except RISE OF COBRA...sort of. The comic cast Destro as Hawk's counterpart, with Cobra Commander being General Flagg's.
